WNBA: Thursday Game Previews & Predictions

There are three games on the WNBA slate on Thursday, including two early games starting at 8:30 AM PST and 12:30 PM PST.

I went 2-0 on Wednesday, hitting the CHI/SEA Under 161.5 and CHI -3.

New York Liberty vs. Washington Mystics Prediction

The New York Liberty (9-16) travel to the Nation’s capitol for a matchup with the Washington Mystics (16-11) at Capital One Arena.

My Number:

New York Liberty 157.5
Washington Mystics -7.4

For me, there’s no value against the spread. I don’t like taking an inferior road team as an underdog when I’m only one point off the market price with Mystics -8 to -8.5 at most sports books. Plus, add in the very early tip at 11:30 AM local time, it’s simply a pass.

The total, on the other hand, will be my bet. My number is 157.5 points. The market is currently 159.5, with some sports books moving down to 159 early.

Atlanta Dream vs. Los Angeles Sparks Prediction

The Atlanta Dream (12-14) are visiting the Los Angeles Sparks (11-14) at Crypto.com Arena for a lunchtime tipoff.

My Number:

Atlanta Dream 158.6
Los Angeles Sparks -1.6

Unfortunately, my number and the markets are aligned with one another. I’m seeing movement off of the opening 158.5 total. I may bet once if I see a 162.5 or 163. As it sits at the time of writing this, I don’t see a number I like.

The spread is also sitting near my number. I see -1 across the board. If this moved a couple of points in either direction, I would consider taking a side, but it would need to be a +2 or +3 for me to bet it.

Indiana Fever vs. Las Vegas Aces Prediction

Finally, a nightcap here in Las Vegas, just a few miles up the road from my house, the lowly Indiana Fever (5-23) will take on the Las Vegas Aces (18-8) at Michelob Ultra Arena inside Mandalay Bay.

My Number:

Indiana Fever 168.7
Las Vegas Aces -20.1

I haven’t been able to sort out the Las Vegas Aces. Most of the association play within their means, but the Aces are a high-variance team.

My total is six points off, and my spread is four points off the market openers. This also happened in the last Aces game, where they lost by 16 as a double-digit favorite in the same building.

I will bet the spread, but I’m waiting for the market. I want to see if it’ll move in my favor. If it goes the other way to -16.5 or higher, I’ll wait for an in-game bet and try to poach a -13.5 or -14.5.
