WNBA: Sunday’s Game Previews & Predictions

WNBA: Sunday's Game Previews & Predictions

There are five WNBA games on Sunday, including four early games tipping off by 12:00 PM PDT.

On Saturday, I had a dramatic 1-1, which probably should have been 0-2, but an insane fourth quarter led to the SEA/WAS game going over and landing right on the model’s number of 159.

Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun Prediction

Sunday’s best game might be the first as the top two best Eastern Conference teams square off. The Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun will tip at 10:00 AM.

My Numbers

Chicago Sky 161.8
Connecticut Sun -4.4

The early game on Sunday features two good teams. I like the under in this one. The total right now is at 166.5. I’ll take it. I may not get a bet before the 10:00 AM tipoff after a night on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas, but seeing 5 points of value is good enough to lay an early bet for me.

I like Connecticut to win this game, but the spread is currently Sun -5. That’s steep against the first-place Chicago Sky, presumably without their best player. I’ll skip a side and take the total.

Phoenix Mercury vs. New York Liberty Prediction

Next, the Phoenix Mercury will play the New York Liberty at 11:00 AM.

My Numbers

Phoenix Mercury 162.6
New York Liberty +2.4

This was the first line on the board that I went to bet. I bet under 168 because I’m seeing 5.5 points of value. Both teams have an average pace of 78-79 per game, so in my opinion, this line is off. I’ll be on under 168.

The spread is right where the model is, so I see no value betting -2/+2 currently. I would bet a side if it moved a point and a half in either direction.

Las Vegas Aces vs. Indiana Fever Prediction

At noon, the Las Vegas Aces will face the Indiana Fever for a second-straight game.

My Numbers

Las Vegas Aces 165.3
Indiana Fever +12.5

The Aces dominated the Fever in their game on Friday night. I expect a lot of the same. The line is where I thought Fridays should have been Aces -16. I’m staying off the spread right now, but I would be interested in betting the Aces in-game or if it moves down to -14.

The total is set at 171.5, and I’ll be betting under. I’ll wait to see if this moves before the noon tipoff, but I like betting under in this spot.

Seattle Storm vs. Washington Mystics Prediction

The Seattle Storm and Washington Mystics will square off for the second straight day in DC.

My Numbers

Seattle Storm 159.0
Washington Mystics -6.2

Yesterday the Storm powered through early poor shooting and came out with a victory to clinch a playoff spot. Today the teams play again. I’m not changing the model’s numbers. The model got the game mostly right outside of some poor offense from Washington.

At the time of writing this, the line sits at 156.5, with Washington favored by -2.5

I don’t want any part of this game, but I’m tempted to bet because the game was on pace to go under until the dying minutes of the fourth quarter. I think we’ll see Washington win and the total stay south of 159.

Minnesota Lynx vs. Los Angeles Sparks Prediction

The nightcap will feature the Minnesota Lynx at the Los Angeles Sparks at 4:00 PM.

My Numbers

Minnesota Lynx 166.8
Los Angeles Sparks -0.6

The Lynx opened up as -1 favorites. There might be an ounce of value to take a moneyline bet on the Sparks, but neither team is any good.

The total is currently posted at 167, which is right on the model’s number. I have no value in this game, but I might sneak a small home team moneyline before this one tips.

My Best Bets

Chicago Sky vs. Connecticut Sun: Spread

The model says 161.9, so essential 4.5 points of value. I’ll bet under 166.5 and hold my breath because the market may not give me good closing line value. Nonetheless, I think this bet will win.

Under 166.5 (-110)

Phoenix Mercury vs. New York Liberty: Total

I expect this number to go up and move against me, but I’ll post it now. BetOnline is offering +105, which is great.
